– Levels –
At Oakley our aim is to encourage and support your acquisition of English, working from your level towards your goal.
Individual assessment of levels is followed up by an oral assessment to identify levels. Groupings fall into those of Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced level and usually coincide with age.
– Methodology –
Our teachers are British TELF trained and focus on the oral, listening and writing skills necessary in the acquisition of language. Reduced numbers in class groups allows for animated conversation and dialogue that enriches the skills and progress of students. General spoken English skills form the knowledge base that the students need to access the formal Cambridge University Exams which start from P.E.T working towards First Certificate and beyond.
Oakley College is an authorized Cambridge University Examination Center.
– University of Cambridge, International Examinations–
These are internationally recognized exams that identify levels of English and are valued in the academic, economic and work place.
When prepared and ready, we encourage students to sit the Cambridge exams. Your teacher will advise and guide you towards successful completion of the exams.
– Conversational English–
Is geared towards those interested in developing their general spoken English rather than sitting formal examinations. Our teachers provide a varied course of topical discussion areas supported by lively interactive participation within the group.
We warmly welcome you to join our learning community and make some new friends along the way.
You are invited to join the first class that is focused on assessing levels and meeting the teachers. “Come along for a free trial /assessment class”.
