Uniforms

We believe that a school uniform is important as: It looks smart; Wears well; Contributes to a sense of belonging; Gives a common purpose; Fosters a feeling of pride.

We require that all children wear the uniform as described below and we encourage them to maintain a good standard of clean and tidy dress in school. Our school colours are green, navy blue and white.

The standard of dress at Oakley is designed to contribute positively to the learning environment. Students should maintain a neat, clean and well-kept appearance at all times.

Students must only wear the official uniform as follows:

EARLY YEARS DEPARTMENT

(2, 3 & 4 year olds)     A green tabard overall with the school crest El Corte Ingles

Children wear the PE kit everyday       Available only  from school

Parents are asked to ensure that all items are labelled clearly with their child’s name

SUMMER UNIFORM

During the months of May/June and September/October the school summer uniform must be worn by all children. The specific dates will be published on the school newsletter. The school blue hat is optional.

BOYS

White short or long sleeved polo shirt with school crest                    El Corte Inglés

  • Green School Tracksuit with navy & white markings from   school
  • White round necked school T-shirt with School Crest Available only from school

  • White Trainers

All items of PE clothing must be named

PRIMARY

The PE uniform must be worn on PE days and change of T-shirt may be brought to change into. This includes days when students have PE as their selected activity.

SECONDARY

In the Secondary department students having PE up to and including period 5 may come to school in their PE kit, however they MUST change into their normal uniform after the PE lesson. Students whose PE lesson is during period 6 will come to school in their normal uniform and change into their PE kit for the lesson. They will not be required to change at the end of the lesson. This ensures that all secondary students only change once regarding their PE lesson – ie either before or after the class.

JEWELRY

  • Students may wear a small; amount of jewelry should they wish to. Permitted items include the following:
    • Small discreet earrings. 2 studs 1 each ear
    • 2 Simple, discreet bracelets may be
  • Any type of body piercing or facial piercing is prohibited and jewelry must be removed for PE lessons.
  • Long hair must be tied back. Hair accessories such as slides, ribbons, bobbles etc. should be fairly simple and in school

SUMMER UNIFORM

As above with the school blue hat as optional

SIXTH FORM STUDENTS UNIFORM POLICY

Students will not be required to wear school uniform but need to adhere to the 6th form dress code.

School PE kit will be worn for PE lessons and whilst representing the school in matches etc.  Students will be required to wear a school T-shirt and the school sweatshirt when on school trips / visits.

SIXTH FORM DRESS CODE

Dresses and skirts that are split at or below the knee are acceptable.

Team, school and fashion brand names on clothing are generally acceptable. Leather flip-flops are allowed to be worn during the summer uniform period.

Clothing that reveals too much cleavage, back, chest, feet, stomach or underwear is not appropriate within school. Clothing should be pressed and never wrinkled. Torn, dirty, or frayed clothing is unacceptable. Any clothing that has words, terms, or pictures that may be offensive to others is unacceptable.

Mini-skirts, sun dresses, beach dresses, and spaghetti-strap dresses are inappropriate dress for school.

SECONDARY STUDENTS PERSONAL APPEARANCE

Dress, grooming and personal cleanliness standards are an important part of our education. In  school you are expected to present a clean, neat and tasteful appearance.

Unnaturally coloured hair and extreme hairstyles, do not present an appropriate image. Makeup should is not appropriate for school.

Beards and unshaven facial hair are not appropriate appearance for students. Offensive body odour and poor personal hygiene is not acceptable.

Facial jewelry such as eyebrow rings, nose rings, lip rings, and tongue studs are not appropriate for students and should not be worn in school.

Extreme ear piercing are not appropriate and must not be worn in school. Tattoos and similar body art must be covered during school hours.
